Clarity Enhanced Diamond:

Its Cost And Brilliance Makes It Very Attractive To Women

Due to the present global economic crisis, some women are now seeking a clarity enhanced diamond. Certainly, diamonds are a girl’s best friend and for centuries women have been attracted to their fire, sparkle, and brilliance. One of the major benefits of owning a clarity enhanced diamond is its cost. It is certainly less expensive than an untreated diamond and its resale value will also be less.

Nowadays, women are opting for this type of diamond for their earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets. Before considering this diamond, you will need to know something about what it is and if it will be to your liking.

Fracture Filling vs. Laser Filling

In order to enhance the clarity of a diamond, gemologists use a couple of different techniques to repair a diamond’s inclusions. The two different techniques used today for this purpose are laser drilling and fracture filling. Laser drilling is a technique used to help eliminate inclusions and uses a laser to drill a tiny hole into the diamond.

Some flaws may be near the surface of the diamond while others may be deeper near the pavilion. Laser beams will vaporize the inclusions and by doing this it will help to enhance the diamond’s brilliance. In some cases, the hole created by the laser will be filled with a chemical substance in order to reduce its visibility.

Fracture Filling

Another procedure used to improve a diamond’s clarity if fracture filling. With this type of treatment, a filling is used to help repair any feathers or fissures found on the surface or on the inside of a diamond. A glass filler called XL-21 was developed by the company Oved Diamond to help eliminate these feathers and fissures. This company claims that the repair is not visible to the naked eye and also will not be detected through 10x magnification.

Through the techniques of laser drilling and fracture filling, a clarity enhanced diamond is produced and is more affordable than an untreated diamond. Of the two procedures, laser drilling is claimed to be the better choice since it will yield more permanent results. In addition, the clarity enhanced diamond produced should not exhibit any sign that it has been treated in any way.

Will A Clarity Enhanced Diamond Be The Best Choice For You?

If the cost factor of buying a diamond for at least 30% below the retail price of an untreated diamond is important to you, then a clarity enhanced diamond will be right for you. In addition, the clarity of these diamonds is so appealing that it makes the stones hard for any women to resist.

Another benefit of a clarity enhanced diamond is that the companies that sell them offer a lifetime guarantee. If the diamond loses its enhancement, these companies will repair them at no charge to the customer. If on the other hand, if you can afford a more expensive diamond and do not want to purchase one that has been treated or repaired, then a clarity enhanced diamond will not be right for you.

Cut, clarity, color, and carat weight, the 4 C’s, determine a diamond’s quality and worth. It is the “clear look” (clarity) in some cases which persuade shoppers to buy the clarity enhances diamond. Since this type of diamond’s appearance is derived from enhancement processing rather than from its own natural characteristics, in many cases it will not alter a thrifty diamond lovers decision to choose a clarity enhanced diamond.
